Passive Voice

Passive Voice Definition

One of the two “voice” of verbs (see also active voice). A verb is in the passive voice when the subject of the sentence is acted on by the verb. For example, in “The ball was thrown by the pitcher”, the ball (the subject) receives the action of the verbs, and was thrown is in the passive voice. Suatu grammatical construction (bentuk gramatikal) dimana subject kalimat tidak melakukan aksi, melainkan menerima aksi atau ditindaklanjuti (receiver of action) oleh agent lain (doer of action) baik disebutkan ataupun tidak. Sebaliknya pada konstrksi active, subject berhubungan langsung dengan verb dengan bertindak sebagai pelaku aksi.
